Don’t let fear of change hold your business back

Switching case management system providers shouldn’t leave you scarred. Embrace change like a pro, says PracticeEvolve, by seeking out the right solution to unlock significant benefits

Embrace change. Be more Harris.

Since US vice president Kamala Harris was formally chosen as the Democratic nominee at the beginning of August, her party’s popularity rating has seen a double-digit increase. According to a new national NBC News poll, this change of party leadership has not only resulted in rising enthusiasm for the Democratic Party among voters it has also propelled Harris forward at record speed and reshuffled the 2024 presidential contest in the process. Her fellow Democrats took a risk — and it appears to be paying off.

“You have nothing to fear but fear itself”

No one more than Harris herself has experienced the energy of change. Change, however, isn’t something we humans are universally adept at embracing for a variety of emotional and physical reasons. Fear of change can, however, be an extremely powerful motivator and one we see on a regular basis here at PracticeEvolve.

While we’re not encouraging you to change the leadership of your law firm, how about considering changing your case management system (CMS)? We appreciate that may be something you fear even more than appointing a new managing partner! What’s more, we also more than understand that, if this is an undertaking you’ve completed in the past, it may have scarred you for life.

Seek out suppliers who excel at change

One of our newest clients described their previous switch to a new system provider as “fairly traumatic for staff”. We’ve heard that before, several times. That’s why it’s always our focus to deliver a seamless transition every time we deliver a bespoke CMS — and provide an unrivalled level of support from day one. You could say we excel at change. And you’d be right.

So, why change? Really. What are the benefits? Do they outweigh the negatives? Will your popularity rating with clients soar as a result? Could it help you reshuffle your firm’s future? Change is difficult. It’s usually a challenge on many different levels. But the results are certainly worth it — just look at Harris (and we’ll all see how well she fares on 5 November).

A comfy pair of slippers?

Back to those questions above. Was your answer to the first question: “Well, the CMS we’ve got is okay — it could be better, but ‘better the devil you know’, right?” Wrong. It may be a very comfy pair of slippers for you and your colleagues, but it could well be holding you back. A bit like Biden was holding the Democratic Party back…

Overcoming that innate fear of change is the first hurdle. And you’re making great strides towards that hurdle simply by reading this article. Implementing a new CMS needn’t be scary. The benefits far outweigh the negatives since you will be able to:

  • Remain competitive
  • Future-proof the firm
  • Improve communications
  • Increase efficiency
  • Enhance customer experience

Have a think about what you’ve read here. Talk to your peers and see what they have to say. Look at the various CMS providers that are out there. Invite them to your offices for a chat. Find out what they have to offer. Understand precisely how you, your colleagues and your clients will benefit.

Embrace change. Be more Harris.
